Philip KING was born in 1870 in Tadworth, Surrey.^2,3 He was the son of Henry KING.¹ Philip's father came from the west country and settled in Tadworth Surrey. He became the school inspector/school board man for Banstead - he was also a financier. Under his father's guidance, Philip trained as a school teacher. Philip wasn't happy and ran away to become a Policeman in Twickenham in the Metropolitan Police.³
Philip married Mabel Emma PASKE, daughter of Reuben John PASK and Mary Ann HALLS, on 22 August 1895 in Westminster, London.^1,4
In the census of 31 March 1901 in 61 Compton Buildings, Clerkenwell, London, Philip was listed as aged 31 born in Tadworth Surrey, the Head of Household; a Metropolitan Police Sergeant, living with his wife Mabel, and children Stanley and Gladys.^1,2 Philip was in a photograph in his Metropolitan Police Officer uniform.⁵
