Charles Pask
(1856-1939)
(1856-1939)
Charles PASK was born on 18 January 1856 in Fulbeck, Lincolnshire.3,4 He was baptised on 10 February 1856 in Fulbeck, Lincolnshire.1 He was the son of George PASK and Betsy WOOLHOUSE.1,2 In the census of 7 April 1861 in North End, Fulbeck, Lincolnshire, he was listed as aged 5 born in Fulbeck, the son of George PASK.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in The Manor House, Fulbeck, Lincolnshire, he was listed as aged 16 born in Fulbeck, a General Domestic servant of William H. BROOKS, a Vent [Veterinary] Surgeon.6 Charles married Harriet Jane COCKS on 25 October 1880 in St. Saviours Church, Walton Place, Knightsbridge, London. The marriage was witnessed by Samuel JONES and Jane JONES. Charles was a Coachman of full age, and living in the Parish of St. Mary Abbots, Kensington. His father was George PASK, a Coachman.7,8,9,2
In the census of 3 April 1881 in 6 Queens Terrace Mews, Kensington, London, Charles was listed as aged 25 born in Fulbeck Lincolnshire, the Head of Household; a Coachman - Domestic Servant, living with his wife Jane, and children George, Ethel, and Annie.10,11
A family rumour is that Charles immigrated to America, or Canada. Photographs of his US family were included in the photograph album of Caroline Lewis née Pask (Charles' sister). In the 1900 US census, it states that Charles & Filomela immigrated in 1888. However, in the 1930 US census is states 1895.12,13,14,15
Charles married Filomela GABRIELLI between 1886 and 1891. It is unsure whether they married in the US, or in England.15,16
In the census of 2 June 1900 in New York, Manhattan County, New York State, America, Charles was listed as "Chas", the Head of Household; a Coachman, living with his wife Filamela [Filomela], and children Marchall [Marshall], Durant, Lucius, Lawrence, and Royal C. Also listed was a servant Barbara KOSDALE, and an assistant Frederick BATT. Charles was aged 42 born in January 1858 in England. He was married for 14 years. His father and mother were born in England. He immigrated in 1888 and had been in the US 12 years.15
In the census of 8 April 1930 in Little Neck, Queens County, New York State, America, Charles was listed as aged 70 born in England, the Head of Household; a House owner (no occupation stated), living with this wife Filomena, and sons Lucius and Lawrence. Furthermore it showed that he was first married at the age of 35, and that his father and mother were born in England. He immigrated in 1895 and was an alien with no occupation.16 Charles died 5.45 pm on 22 April 1939 in New York, Queens County, New York State, America, at the age of 83.17,18 Charles was buried on 25 April 1939 in the family plot in Plot Ideal 97, Section 9, Graves 1, 2 & 3, Ocean View Cemetery, Amboy Road, Oakwood Heights, Staten Island, Richmond County, at the age of 83.18,19
Research Note: There seems to be several descrepancies when Charles and Filomena immigrated. In the 1900 census, it shows they immigrated in 1888. However in the 1930 census it is stated that they immigrated in 1895.15,16
