George married Emma MOULDS, daughter of Joseph MOULDS and Ann KEY, in 1857 in the Grantham registration district.1,2
In the census of 7 April 1861 in Moulds House, G Moors Row, Ropsley, Lincolnshire, George was listed as aged 30 born in Caythorpe, the Head of Household; a Tailor employing 1 Journeyman and 1 Apprentice, living with his wife Emma, and their children William, and Ann. Also listed was his brother David SWINTON, and an apprentice Matthew STEEL.3
In the census of 2 April 1871 in High Street, Ropsley, Lincolnshire, George was listed as aged 40 born in Caythorpe, the Head of Household; a Tailor; employing 1 man and an apprentice; living with his wife Emma, and their children William, Anne, George, Joseph, Jane, Thomas, and Sarah. Also listed was Washington JOHNSON, a Journeyman Tailor.5
Also in the 1871 census, he was listed in Coal Lane, Sproxton, Leicestershire, he was listed as a Master Tailor, aged 40 born in Caythorpe Lincolnshire, a Visitor of William MOULDS - in fact he was his brother-in-law.6
In the census of 3 April 1881 in High Street, Ropsley, Lincolnshire, George was listed as aged 50 born in Caythorpe, the Head of Household; a Tailor, living with his wife Emma, and their children Ann, George, Emma J., Thomas, Sarah, Florence, Fred, and Rose. Also listed were two nephews - George MOULDS, and Charles MOULDS.7
In the census of 5 April 1891 in 9 Norton Street, Spittlegate, Grantham, Lincolnshire, George was listed as aged 60 born in Caythorpe, the Head of Household; a Tailor, living with his wife Emma, and their children Sarah, Fred, and Rose.8
He witnessed the marriage of Alexander VAUGHAN and his daughter, Emma Jane SWINTON, on 26 December 1891 in St. John's Church, Grantham, Lincolnshire.9,2,10
George died in 1897 in the Bethnal Green registration district.11,2,12
His wife's, Emma, death was registered in 1918 in the Melton Mowbray registration district.13,12,2
