In the census of 2 April 1911 in 10 Clements Lane, Haverhill, Suffolk, Frederick was listed as aged 59 born in Haverhill, the Head of Household; a Labourer on a Farm, living with his wife Emily, and their daughters Caroline, and Jane. Also listed was his wife's neice Hettie HARDY.² In the census of 2 April 1911 he was a neighbour of his son Frederick BARBER.⁶

     Joseph FRENCH was born in 1863. He was the son of Thomas & Ann FRENCH.^1,2 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Hall Boyten End, Stoke Gate, Stoke by Clare, Suffolk, he was listed as aged 18 born in Stoke by Clare, a Farm Labourer, liviing with his parents Thomas & Ann FRENCH, and siblings Alice, George, and Daniel.²
Joseph married Jane PASKE, daughter of Henry PASK and Frances ROGERS, on 10 February 1882 in Stoke by Clare, Suffolk. He was a Bachelor aged 19, a Labourer residing in Stoke-by-Clare. His father was listed as Thomas FRENCH, a Labourer. The marriage was witnessed by Thomas PEACOCKE [Bride's Brother-in-Law], and Alice FRENCH.^1,3
