Alexander married Charlotte Mary Ann PASK, daughter of William PASK and Harriet HOOKER, in 1905 in the Merthyr Tydfil registration district. Alexander & Charlotte had eight children - Jenny, Agnes, Henrica, Nan, James, Violet, William, and Adella. It is probable that they had additional children that died in infancy.1,2 Alexander's grandson Ernest Elliott, writes "Alexander was regarded by his peers as a very intelligent man. He was a founder member of the miners union and suffered at the hands of the wealthy mine owners for trying to start a union. He was blacklisted by them and unable to get work. When the mines became nationalised he was allowed to work and had to work up until he was 74 years old in order to have enough national insurance stamps to allow him to claim his pension. He was a man of very high principles and moral standards and although he was about 5ft 6in tall, I being his grandson regarded him as a giant amongst men.2"
