- [S5520] Website FindmyPast: British Newspapers 1710-1963: The Chelsmford Chronicle reports on 21 March 1873:
"THE LATE MISS HASELFOOT. In our obituary will be seen a notice of the death of Miss Haselfoot, of Boreham, for many years an inhabitant of this town, and who died in the 90th year of her age. Miss Haselfoot succeeded to the family estates at Boreham and other properties on the death of her brother, Mr. Charles Haselfoot, in May, 1863, to whom the same came on the death of Robert Cleere Haselfoot, who died in July 1849. Miss Haselfoot was the last representative of the issue in direct descent of Mr. John Haselfoot, of London, who in the latter part of the 16th century married Alice, daughter and heiress of Sir Stephen Peacock. Knight, Lord Mayor of London, whose crest the Haselfoots adopted. The estates by Miss Haselfoot's death devolve upon Robert Theophilus Edward Paske Haselfoot, who is now about six years of age, and is the grandson of Colonel Thomas Theophilus Paske. The late Miss Haselfoot was most charitable and kind to the poor, and her many acts of unostentatious benevolence will long be remembered by the recipients of her bounty. As a proof of her consideration for the welfare of her poor neighbours, we understand that the deceased lady has by her will given legacies of £50 each to the parish school and to the poor of Boreham, her native village, and to the Chelmsford Dispensary. She was buried in the family vault at Boreham on Wednesday last. The funeral was attended by several relatives and friends amid unmistakable tokens of respect and & and regard for her memory." - [S4999] Website UK Government Probate Search Service: 1873: HASELFOOT, Elizabeth Mary (otherwise Maria). 10 April. the Will with six Codicils of Elizabeth Mary (otherwise Maria) Haselfoot formerly of Chelmsford but late of Boreham Manor in the Parish of Boreham both in the County of Essex Spinster who died 13 Mary 1873 at Boreham Manor was proved at the Principal Registry by Thomas Morgan Gepp of Chelmsford Gentleman and William Parr Isaacson of Newmarket in the County of Cambridge Esquire the Executors.
