Other Lines

In this section you will find information on other names that I am researching, or hosting for family and friends. These include:

William Sunley

The SUNLEY family is a connection through my mother's first marriage. William Sunley (1890-1918) married my mother, Jane SAVAGE in 1915 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.

William enlisted into the Royal Navy as a boy rating on 12 September 1907. He was tragically killed at the end of World War I. Jane, his childhood sweetheart, who later became his wife, lovingly kept photographs, letters, and memorabilia which have now been reproduced in a booklet.

This booklet was written and researched by me and published in December 2002. William died during special service aboard a Q-ship. Q-ships were merchant ships, modified to include armament and additional buoyancy, intended to act as decoy vessels. Due to the secrecy surrounding these ships, many details of William’s death were not revealed and he was not given the honour he deserved until 2002.

This information is being currently reconstructed and will be available again shortly. In the meantime, contact me for further information.
