In the census of 30 March 1851 in Whaplode, Lincolnshire, she was listed as the daughter of James Garrard.6
In the census of 7 April 1861 in Roman Bank, Moulton, Lincolnshire, she was listed as the daughter of James Garrard.7 As of 4 September 1868, her married name was Mary A. Savage.1 Mary married Rufus Savage, son of William Savage and Frances Jacklin, on 4 September 1868 the Parish Church, Holbeach, Lincolnshire, Witnessed by Joseph Williams and Fanny Scarborough.1,8,9,10

She was listed as a lodger of an unknown person in the census of 2 April 1871 in Cottage, Holbeach Clough, Holbeach, Lincolnshire.11
In the census of 3 April 1881 in 23 Queens Court, Boston & Hall Hills, Boston, Lincolnshire, she was listed as the wife of Rufus Savage; (a Farm Labourer, living with his wife, son John Thomas and two daughters Mary Ann, and Isabella.)12
In the census of 5 April 1891 in Holbeach Common, Holbeach, Lincolnshire, she was listed as the wife of Rufus Savage; (a Agricultural Labourer, living with his wife and son.)13
In the census of 31 March 1901 in Little Common, Holbeach, Lincolnshire, she was listed as the wife of Rufus Savage; (an Agricultural Labourer, living with his wife and son John Thomas. Also living in the same house was Richard CAREY, a Boarder.)14
