Dunkerton, Ia. --The funeral of Austin Allen, who committed suicide by poisoning Friday while his family was moving from one farm to another in this vicinity, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church in this city, Rev. Asa Popp, pastor, will officiate.
The body will be at Brant Funeral home in Owelwin until 9 a.m. Monday when it will be taken to the Allen home.
Mr. Allen had left the new home to bring the last of the machinery from his former farm and failed to return. When alarm over his delay arose, search was made and the body found in a corn crib with the empty bottle nearby. It was believed by the family he had worried over financial matters.
Mr. Allen was born 54 years ago near Dunkerton and had spent all his life in this vicinity. He married on Feb. 28, 1898, Miss Flora Moulds, who survives, with their seven children: Ernest, Dunkerton; Bert, George, Gladys, on the home farm; Alice, Des Moines; Mabel, Waterloo; and Mrs. Ray Trepitt, Davenport. He is survived by three grandchildren Bobby and Bert Allen, twin sons of Bert Allen, and Dean, son of Ernest Allen.
There are also two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Eldridge, Denver and Mrs. Jessie Foals in Oklahoma, and three brothers, whose addresses are not known.10
His funeral service was held at the Baptist Church, Dunkerton, Black Hawk County, Iowa, USA, on 2 March 1931.10
Austin, and his wife Flora, are buried together in Fairview-Lester Cemetery, Dunkerton, Black Hawk County, Iowa, USA.11,12

He worked for the Chicago Great Western Railroad as a section foreman for many years and later was a custodian at Colombus High School, retiring in 1965.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert J. of Fargo, N.D; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Strubel of Baraboo, Wis; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Bob) of Fairbank, and George of Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Triplett and Mrs. Gladys Young, both of Davenport; and Mrs Earl McKinley of Anaheim, Calif.
