He was in fact the stepson of John JACKSON.3
In the census of 2 April 1871 in Bathely Lane, South Muskham, Nottinghamshire, Joseph was listed as aged 23 born in Caythorpe, the Head of Household; an Agricultural Labourer, living with his wife Lucy and 3-week old daughter Mary Ann.5
