In the census of 6 June 1841 in Helpston, Northamptonshire, Joshua was listed as aged 20 born in Northamptonshire, the Head of Household; a Labourer, living with Eliza, and their 10-month old baby Sarah BOWRING.5
In the census of 30 March 1851 in Helpston, Northamptonshire, Joshua was listed as aged 33 born in Market Deeping Lincolnshire, the Head of Household; an Agricultural Labourer, living with his wife Jane Eliza, and children Sarah, Elizabeth, Joshua, and Jane.6
In the census of 7 April 1861 in Helpston, Northamptonshire, Joshua was listed as aged 43 born in Helpstone, the Head of Household; an Agricultural Labourer, living with his wife Jane E., and children Elizabeth, "Johana" [Joshua], Jane, John, Edward, and Eliza.1,4
In the census of 1871 in Helpston, Northamptonshire, Joshua was listed as aged 52 born in Helpston, the Head of Household; an Agricultural Labourer, a widower, living with his son Edward, and daughter Eliza.2 In the census of 5 April 1891, he was listed as a widower aged 72 born in Helpston, an Inmate in the The Union Workhouse, Thorpe Road, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.7
Joshua died in 1896 in the Peterborough registration district.8

Research Note: There is some confusion over where Joshua was born. In the 1861-1891 censuses his place of birth was listed as Helpston Northamptonshire. However in the 1851 he says Market Deeping Lincolnshire.6
