James born 1835 married in Australia in 1861 to Maria Mitchell were daughter Annie born same year. They emigrated to New Zealand where Walter, Ernest and Edward Albert were born before Maria's death. James remarried Mary Allen and they had 9 children: Eli, Elizabeth (Eves),Mary (Ayers), Jane (Ayers), Frances(Laing), Sarah (Kemp), David, Margaret and James (b 1888).
