In the census of 6 June 1841 in Lark Lane, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, she was listed as the wife of Richard DOUGHTY.8,9
In the census of 30 March 1851 in Wellingore, Lincolnshire, Sophia was listed as aged 39 born in Heckington, the Head of Household; a Carpenter's Wife [her husband was not enumerated], living with her children Charlotte, George, William, Mary Ann, Charles, and Jane.3,10
Sophia died on 8 May 1857 in Spittlegate, Grantham, Lincolnshire.1,11,12

Research Note: Jane writes: "Whilst there is a discrepancy between this date and that given in the 1851 census and also with the age on her death certificate of 1857 when her age is given as 40, people
were not always sure of their birth dates, or ages were sometimes guessed at by
enumerators."2
