     James PASK was born in 1819 in Kilgwrrwg, Monmouthshire.1 He was the son of John PASKE and Cicely WILLIAMS.2
In the census of 6 June 1841 in St. Wollos, Newport, Monmouthshire, James was listed as a Lathsplitter, aged 20 born in Monmouthshire, the Head of Household; In the household there was listed several other Labourers. Living next door was a Mary ROBERTS (possibly his future wife), together with her parents.3
James married Mary ROBERTS in 1846 in the Newport registration district.4,5,6
In the census of 30 March 1851 in Mariners Church Wharf, St. Woollos, Newport, Monmouthshire, James was listed as aged 32 born in New Church East, the Head of Household; a Lath Render, living with his wife Mary and stepson James ROBERTS.7 In the census of 7 April 1861 he was a neighbour of John PASK, who was living at 46 Blewitt Road.8
In the census of 7 April 1861 in 30 Blewitt Road, St. Woollos, Newport, Monmouthshire, James was listed as the Head of Household; a Lathe Render, living with his wife Mary. Also listed was Ruth LEONARD a visitor aged 14 born in Henllis [Hennllys].9
In the census of 2 April 1871 in Winelow House, Chepstow Road, Christchurch, Newport, Monmouthshire, James was listed as aged 52 born in Newchurch, the Head of Household; a Lathrenderer Master employing 2 men, living with his wife Mary. Also listed was a lodger Edgar M. MARR, a Newspaper Reporter.9,10
His wife, Mary, died in 1874 in the Newport registration district.11
James married Ellen WEBBER in 1878 in the Newport registration district.1,12,13 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Winslow House, Kilgwrrwg, Monmouthshire, James was listed as aged 56 born in Kilgwrrwg, the Head of Household a Farmer of 22 acres, living with his wife Ellen, his wife's mother Jane WEBBER, aged 65 born in North Curry, and stepson James ROBERTS.14 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Winslow House, Kilgwrrwg, Monmouthshire, James was listed as aged 70 born in Kilgwrwg, the Head of Household a Farmer, living with his wife Ellen.15

In the census of 31 March 1901 he was a neighbour of Nehemiah PASK.1 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Winslow House, Kilgwrrwg, Monmouthshire, James was listed as aged 82 born in Kilgwrwg, the Head of Household a Farmer, living with his wife Ellen and a Servant Thomas STEVENS.1
James died on 8 June 1901 in Winslow House, Kilgwrrwg, Monmouthshire.16,17
His estate was probated to Ellen PASK on 7 September 1901 in Llandaff, Glamorganshire.17

Research Note: His age in the 1901 census is shown as 82, and his death is shown as 82. However in the 1881 census, he is shown as aged 56, probably because he had just married and there was nearly a 30-year age gap.1
