His father was listed as James Hodges, a Smith.^3,4,5,2,6 James HODGES and Rebeka PASK were baptized in the LDS church on 11 August 1850.⁷ James HODGES was ordained on 17 March 1851.⁷
In the census of 30 March 1851 in Llandevaud, Monmouthshire, he was listed as a Labourer, aged 22 born in Llanmartin, the son-in-law of Isaac PASK.^8,1 James HODGES emigrated in 1866 to Salt Lake Valley, Utah, USA, He sailed on the "St Mark" from Liverpool to New York on 6 June 1866 ticket no. 655 arriving 26 July 1866. He joined a Nebraska wagon train on 8 August, that arrived in Salt Lake Valley on 8 October 1866, but James had died on the way.^9,10,11
