James HODGES was born on 5 July 1828 in Llanmartin, Monmouthshire.1,2 James married Rebeka PASK, daughter of Isaac PASK and Elizabeth STEPHENS, on 6 July 1850 in Register Office, Newport, Monmouthshire. The marriage was witnessed by B. Samuel and William R. Potter. He was a Labourer, aged 22 a Bachelor residing at Llandevaud. His father was listed as James Hodges, a Smith.3,4,5,2,6 James HODGES and Rebeka PASK were baptized in the LDS church on 11 August 1850.7 James HODGES was ordained on 17 March 1851.7 In the census of 30 March 1851 in Llandevaud, Monmouthshire, he was listed as a Labourer, aged 22 born in Llanmartin, the son-in-law of Isaac PASK.8,1 James HODGES emigrated in 1866 to Salt Lake Valley He sailed on the "St Mark" from Liverpool to New York on 6 June 1866 ticket no. 655 arriving 26 July 1866. He jioned a Nebraska wagon train on 8 August, that arrived in Salt Lake Valley on 8 October 1866, but James had died on the way.9,10,11
James died on 25 September 1866 in Farson, Wyoming, America, at the age of 38.9,12 James was buried on 2 October 1866 in America at the age of 38.

A Norwegian child was also buried by his side, about 2 feet apart. We travelled about 10 miles, nooned on Big Sandy.
Note: additional information from the Map of Sweetwater County,Wyoming would suggest to me that the place of crossing Little Sandy was at the present bridge marked (esn & kiq), about 4 miles north and 4 miles east of the present town of Farson, Wyoming.entered by Kermit L.
