In the census of 3 April 1881 in 4 Plummer Street, Elswick, Lancashire, Thomas was listed as aged 34 born in Wallsall Staffordshire, the Head of Household; a Boot Seller, living with his wife Mary Elisabeth, and son Thomas Charles.2
Thomas's death was registered in 1882 in the Newcastle upon Tyne registration district.3

William CAPLE was born in 1856 in Newport, Monmouthshire.1
Herman married Caroline SLATER, daughter of Timothy SLATER and Mary Ann PASKE, on 30 May 1878 in All Saints Church, Newington, Surrey. He was a Laster, a Bachelor aged 21, residing at 17 Mann Street. His father was listed as William Caple (Deceased), a Carpenter. The marriage was witnessed by Kate Wigmore, and Mary Ann Millwood.1,3,4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 13 Poplar Road, Camberwell, London, he was listed as a Boot Laster aged 34 born in Newport Monmouthshire, the son-in-law of John W. SLATER.1
In the census of 31 March 1901 in 11 Poplar Road, Camberwell, London, Herman was listed as aged 44 born in Newport Monmouthshire, the Head of Household; a Boot Manufacturer, living with his wife Caroline. Also listed was Lily JOHANN, a Servant.2 In the census of 31 March 1901 he was at the same address as his son Herman CAPLE, but enumerated as a different household.2
