On 29 September 1939, in the 1939 National Register, Malcolm was listed as being born on 2 April 1935. He was living with his grandparents, and his mother, Alice PASK, in 295 Cranbrook Avenue, Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire.3
When Malcolm was 15, he went missing from home. This was initially reported in the Hull Daily Mail, Hull, Yorkshire, on 11 November 1950, it read:
May Be in Wales
A message that her son, 15-year-old Malcolm Pask, who has been missing from home for over a week, was thought to have been seen in the Glamorgan area was received last night by Mrs Patricia Pattison, of Newland-ave., Hull.
Police in the district are carrying out a search. Since the boy’s disappearance was first announced on Saturday, Mrs Pattison has had several reports of his being seen in the East Riding.
It was thought that Malcolm may have gone to look for work.
When he left home he was wearing a red and grey check lumber jacket with a belt, dark grey flannels and black shoes. He is 5ft. 10in., slim, with blue eyes, fresh complexion and fair hair brushed back.6
An update relating to him going missing was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, Hull, Yorkshire, on 13 November 1950, it read:
MRS PATRICIA PATTISON, mother of 15-year-old Hull boy Malcolm Pask, who has been missing from home for over a week, is spending today close by the telephone in her home at Newland-ave, in the hope that someone may telephone her for news of his whereabouts.
Malcom, who is a former Grammar School boy, had been living with his grandmother in Cranbrook-ave. His father was killed in the first year of the war.
On Monday of last week he left to go to a garage, where he had been working since leaving school in September. He has not returned home since and his cap and overalls were later found at Elloughton.
SEEN IN RIDING?
Since the news of his disappearance was first announced on Saturday, Mrs Pattison has had several reports of his being seen in the East Riding.
One of them came from a lorrydriver who telephoned to say that he had given a boy a lift from Elloughton to Hatfield last Monday. He had since recognised the boy from a photograph.
NO TRACE
Yesterday, Mrs Pattison toured parts of the Riding investigating the reports that her son had been seen. She went to a cyclists' hostel at Howden and searched various places where she thought the boy might go for a night's sleep, but returned without having found any trace.
Among the people she saw was a woman who said that a boy she believed to be Malcolm had asked her child to go into a shop and buay some crisps for him.
Mrs Pattison today told the Hull Daily Mail that she does not think the boy was Malcolm. “I think he has gone further afield than the East Riding.” she said.
LOOKING FOR WORK?
It was thought that Malcolm, for whom police all over Yorkshire are searching, may have gone to the West Riding to look for work. When he left home he was wearing a red and grey check lumber jacket with a belt., dark grey flannels and black shoes. He is 5ft. 10in., slim, with blue eyes, fresh complexion and fair hair brushed back.
A further update relating to him going missing was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, Hull, Yorkshire, on 14 November 1950, it read:

An update relating to him being found was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, Hull, Yorkshire, on 15 November 1950, it read:
MRS PATRICIA PATTISON, of NewIand-ave., Hull, last night got a call from the police, who told her that they had received a 99 call from a person who said they were
“to tell mother that I am all right.”
She believed it was from her 15-year-old son, Malcolm Pask, who had been missing since Friday, but who returned last night to his grandmother, Mrs Alice Marston, 295, Cranbrook-ave.
Mrs Pattison now believes that the phone call was a hoax.
Sitting in the diningroom of Mrs Marston’s house with the boy, she told a Hull Daily Mail reporter. “I got the call about 8 o'clock.”
Malcom said, “I didn't make any phone call to the police. I arrived in Hull last night by the 9.15pm ferry.”
Malcolm told the Hull Daily Mail that he had been hostelling. He is a keen cyclist and a
member of a Hull cycling club.
“I did a day’s work for a farmer near Swansea.” he said. Leaving Hull, he hitch-hiked to Swansea via Doncaster, London, Cardiff, Gloucester and Stratford-on-Avon and returned by Stratford-on-Avon and Swansea.
He had no trouble getting lifts from lorries, he said.
Malcolm. who had worked in a garage as a mechanic, was out of work when he left Hull. He told the Hull Daily Mail. “I was looking for work. I thought I could find a job.”.6
Malcolm died in a road accident on 20 May 1955 in RAF West Kirby, West Kirby, Cheshire, at the age of 19.1,7 He was buried in West D40, Frankby Parish Churchyard, Frankby, Cheshire.8
