"Roger wrote: "The notification of George's death was followed by a telegram dated the 15th November 1917 stating 'report now received notifying wounded' and a letter the following day stating 'the first notification was incorrectly reported. Trusting this has not caused you any unnecessary pain. A further letter dated the 4th February 1918 basically stated 'sorry, we were right first time'. It's no wonder that, after this experience, my grandmother Pask became such a formidable lady. She single-handedly built up a successful business and moved from the East End into a big house in Sutton with servant's quarters (but no servants!!).""
